Competition in Peterborough, 25 May 2003
On Sunday the 25 May CARISMA sent a team of kick boxers to the
Second Peterborough Open Championships Series 2003.
They maintained the clubs successful competition reputation by bringing
back four first place trophies.
First to fight was Richard Watkins in the Open Light Continuous category.
Richard overpowered his first opponent with strong jabs and crosses to secure
a comfortable victory. In the final he came up against a strong boxer who pushed
the close fight into extra time. Changing his tactics Richard landed strong
sidekicks in extra time to win a hard earned 1st place.
James Bridgeland came first in the under 69kg Semi-contact category,
fighting exceptionally well in his first kickboxing competition.
His fast, clean fighting style took him easily into the final where he
beat he opponent comfortably 8-5.
Team captain Robin Turner has been improving with each competition he
takes part in and this time was no exception. He won first place in the
under 79kg Semi-contact category and looks well on the way to win first
place in the series.
Finally, crowd pleaser Malcolm Gennis put on an entertaining display to
take a first place in the under 74kg category and complete the haul on
winning trophies.
Well done guys!
